What is Community Service?


Community service is at the heart of Rotaract Colombo Fort. Through hands-on projects, we strive to improve lives and create lasting change in the communities we serve.
Projects

Orange Friends
Project Orange Friends, launched by the Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort in 2021, supports municipal labourers by providing essential supplies. This impactful initiative uplifts unsung community heroes and aims to expand further in 2024, enhancing well-being and community appreciation.

Like the Clear Skies
Cleanup Sri Lanka, held on 28th September 2024 at Crow Island Beach, saw over 30 participants contribute 75+ volunteer hours, collecting 30+ bags of waste. This joint Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact effort embodies impactful community service, one cleanup at a time.

Dammi
Project Dammi 2.0 was a collaborative blood donation initiative organised by the Interact Club of Zahira College, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort, and Batch 2021 of Zahira College. Held on 8th March 2025 at the Zahira College Swimming Pool Complex, the event aimed to create awareness around the life-saving impact of blood donation and to instil a sense of civic duty among students and young professionals.

Fort's root
‘Fort’s Root’ is a joint environmental initiative by the Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort and the Rotaract Club of Trincomalee, designed to contribute to reforestation and sustainability efforts through tree planting. This project represents the club’s commitment to environmental responsibility and long-term ecological
impact.

Paw -Tect
PawTect is a compassionate initiative by the Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort, focused on improving the lives of stray dogs through medical intervention and advocacy. With a target to sterilise and vaccinate over 50 stray dogs, this project provided these essential services free of charge.

Shoreline Rescue
Shoreline Rescue 2025 was a large-scale coastal cleanup initiative organised by eight Rotaract Clubs across Sri Lanka, held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Dehiwala Beach. Rooted in the values ofenvironmental stewardship and civic responsibility, the project aimed to tackle the growing issue of marinepollution along one of Colombo’s most accessible but often neglected shorelines. It sought to educate thepublic, especially youth, on the significance of protecting ocean ecosystems while directly removing wastematerials that pose a threat to marine life.

Tidings of Hope
“Tidings of Hope” was a heartfelt Christmas initiative by the Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort to bring light, warmth, and hope to the lives of cancer care patients at the Jayam Wijayarathnam Cancer Care Center in Ragama. As the festive season is often a time of togetherness and joy, the club recognised the importance of extending this spirit to those going through difficult health battles, many of whom are away from family and loved ones during the holidays.

The Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort is a vibrant and diverse community service organization, proudly supported by the Rotary Club of Colombo Fort. Our mission is to empower youth, foster leadership, and promote community development with a global perspective. This year, we are focused on expanding our impact and strengthening our connections, staying true to our commitment to service above self.
